Branchiosaurus is an extinct genus of small, primitive amphibians that lived during the Late Carboniferous and Early Permian periods, around 307-299 million years ago. They were part of a larger group of amphibians called Temnospondyls, which were some of the earliest known tetrapods (four-legged vertebrates) to inhabit both aquatic and terrestrial environments. Branchiosaurus had a long, slender body with four well-developed limbs and a long tail. This specimen comes from Germany.
