Gillicus Arcuatus Fossil
Gillicus arcuatus is one of the largest fish found in the Niobrara chalk is. Attaining a length of over six feet, this tarpon-like fish preyed on smaller fish even though it only had small, fringe teeth. Many Gillicus fish tails are found in the chalk, Leading scientists to believe that Xiphactinus made it a staple of its diet.
